Life after Kickstarter

Posted by Stephanie Su on

Hello!

It's been awhile since I've posted an update so I wanted to share a bit about what I've been up to with PERSU after completing fulfillment!

Since then, things have slowed down and I took up a part-time job to supplement my living expenses. And, I've been working on designing a new bag! However, due to the cost of production, the Kickstarter funds covered just enough for the production and shipping of the Jessica, Tom, and Sol bags without enough funding for additional designs. So, over the past couple of months I've been brainstorming options in order to receive more funding. While I am considering a second Kickstarter campaign, I've been given an opportunity to pitch potential investors in Taiwan! This week I flew to Taipei, Taiwan to pitch PERSU COLLECTION!

I'm still currently traveling and will let you know how the meetings go! *crossing my fingers*

Thanks for following along on my journey! :)

Xoxo,

Steph

The Sol bags have arrived! And, meet Sol himself in my latest vlog video!

Posted by Stephanie Su on

Hi Everyone!

The Sol bags have finally arrived to me and are being shipped out this week and next week! The Sol bags arrived on time at the end of June at the Oakland port but this time around the shipment took much longer to process before getting released to me. I learned that part of the reason is because this time, I did not have a full container so my overseas shipment had to go through two warehouses before being trucked to my home. And with the 4th of July holiday, the warehouses and trucking service were a bit backed up. But, luckily they arrived safely and I've already started putting the new hang tags I designed on them! :)

New hang tags will be on every Sol bag!

And, as you may know the Sol bag was named after VIP Kickstarter backer Sol Tran during my campaign. Last month I got the chance to meet Sol in person and take him to a couple of my favorite LA local fitness spots (minus Gloveworx because they were full but we are going to try again later!) and chat with him and his lovely girlfriend over lunch at True Food Kitchen. Interested in meeting Sol? Check out the latest vlog video below! (Please excuse that I was a sweaty hot mess in it) :D

Thanks again for staying with me on my journey! I will be posting recommended cleaning tips for your removable interior next!

Xoxo,

Steph

Tom & Jessica Bags Shipping Update!

Posted by Stephanie Su on

Hi Everyone!

After many days in the garage packing and taping shipments, 3 full UPS trucks, and multiple trips to the post office, a majority of the Tom and Jessica bags have been shipped!

I quickly became a regular at the post office :)

3 of the 5 bins I filled at the post office!

I also packed my mom's car and made some local Sacramento deliveries. It was great being able to meet some of you in person! I wish I could've completed all the deliveries in the Sacramento area but the process took longer than I thought it would (being a UPS driver is pretty tedious!).

Fitting as much as possible into my mom's car for deliveries!

Just so that all of you have an update on shipping, all domestic orders were shipped via UPS and all international orders were shipped via USPS. For those who bought a Sol bundle, if you are a domestic order, you will receive your Tom or Jessica bag first and then the Sol bag separately when it arrives. If you are an international backer of the Sol bundle, you will receive your bundle in one package when the Sol bags arrive. This is because international shipping is significantly more than domestic shipping so it is more affordable to ship the bags in one package.

You should have all received an email with your tracking number. Please make sure you check your tracking number to make sure the package is going to the correct address. If your address has changed recently, let me know ASAP so that we can figure out if it's possible to retrieve the package. The email should say the package is from PERSU COLLECTION but it is possible that it may say LYNCH CREEK FARMS because I've partnered with Lynch Creek Farms for some help on shipping operations. My friend Nathanael helps me create labels for everyone and I package and send the order on my end. In return, I will be helping Lynch Creek with some of their social media. And in case you're wondering what Lynch Creek is, they are the place to go to for holiday wreaths! They have tons of different styles, even some DIY wreaths, and they also sell Dahlia bulbs. :)

Besides the shipping and fulfillment, I have been involved with a project for the last couple of months that has been keeping me busy. I've been wanting to tell you guys about it but I can't until January 2016. :( I will let you know as soon as I'm allowed to! :D PERSU bags have also just entered a certain retailer...announcement coming soon! :)

Last but NOT least, THANK YOU ALL for the wonderful feedback you have been giving me!! I am reading every Facebook post, email, text, message, Kickstarter comment, Instagram tag, DM, Snapchat, Tweet, everything! I really appreciate all the feedback and I truly appreciate all the support you have shown me. It's been so encouraging for me especially when things get tough - all I have to do is read your comments! :) I hope to get an investor one day so that I can bring on some help and I will share all of your feedback in the process!

Xoxo,

Steph

The Tom and Jessica Bags Have Arrived!

Posted by Stephanie Su on

Hi Everyone!

I have GREAT news! The Tom and Jessica bags arrived successfully to me on Friday! :D I originally had the container going to my friend's warehouse in Rancho Cordova where we were ready to unload the shipment with forklifts, but when we opened the container doors, we saw that the boxes were loose and not on pallets! So, I switched the delivery to my home in Sacramento where my family and I unloaded the 171 boxes of merchandise into the garage.

Since then, I've been ordering shipping and packaging supplies and setting-up my shipping plan. I will be shipping out over 700 Tom and Jessica bags this week through next week!

Over 900lbs of boxes that requires a ladder for me to unpack! Haha

Over 900lbs of boxes that requires a ladder for me to unpack! Haha

For my Kickstarter campaign, I lightly subsidized US shipping and subsidized the international shipping quite a bit. At the time, I chose to do that because I didn't think a couple dollars domestically and the $15/$20 internationally was that much. After receiving advice on shipping and fulfillment from an operations expert friend of mine, I quickly realized that those dollars add up to A LOT if you multiply it by 700! Now I understand why investors have been adamant about having me really understand my total cost of goods, including ancillary costs when determining pricing.

So I've come up with a couple solutions to help off-set the costs and one of them is to deliver some of the Sacramento orders myself! The Sacramento deliveries made by me will happen sometime between Saturday-Tuesday. In general, if you ordered a Tom or Jessica bag from me, I will estimate that you will receive your bag in the next couple weeks (dependent upon your location).

This week I also turned 27 on Monday (time flies!), did another short segment on Good Day Sacramento, and presented my final pitch to the panel for the Sacramento Calling All Dreamers competition. I will keep you guys updated on the outcome!

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! I'm going to focus on delivering and packing these bags so that I can get them to all of you as soon as possible so you can bring it with you on your next 3-day weekend trip! :D

Thank you for your patience throughout this process, and your support!

    Xoxo,

    Steph

    PERSU Shipment Update! :)

    Posted by Stephanie Su on

    Hi Everyone!

The past few days have been busy as I've been working with my importers to execute the shipment efficiently! My shipment arrived at the Oakland port on May 9th and has completed its customs exams and has been released. This morning I paid the hefty invoice to my importers so they are currently arranging a truck to pick up the container from the port and truck it over to Rancho Cordova (date of delivery is still TBD) where I will receive it at my friend's warehouse. I have a flight booked to go back to Sacramento tomorrow so that I can be there all week to manage the shipment. I'm so excited to get my bags and start shipping them out to all of you!!

The other great news I have is that the Sol prototype bag has arrived! :) I've looked over the sample and approved it and the Sol bags have begun production! Just a refresher, the Sol bag is similar to the Tom bag but larger (12in H x 21in W x 10.6in D) with more of an understated, minimal design using matte black hardware. The Sol bag comes with the same accessories as the Tom and Jessica: an extra shoe bag, an extra zippered nylon bag, and an extra shoulder strap. Please note that the Sol shoe bag is larger and does not have a divider in the middle so that it can fit larger high-top shoes such as men's basketball shoes. If you would like to pre-order a Sol bag, they are available on http://www.persucollection.com/preorder/.

As for the Sacramento Calling All Dreamers business competition, I'm still in the running as a finalist! I did my first pitch last week and will do my final pitch on May 21st. I also did a short live news segment on News10 over the weekend. I am pretty embarrassed about the segment because I was really nervous and I didn't realize my hair was messed up, LOL! But I will still share it with you guys because you've supported me since Day 1 and deserve to see everything! :) Here is the link to the segment: http://www.news10.net/videos/news/features/2015/05/09/27069251/

I'm looking forward to sharing more updates with you! And, if you are on Snapchat, feel free to add me: PERSUCOLLECTION - for videos and photos of all things PERSU. I will show my shipment on Snapchat when I receive it! :D

    Xoxo,

    Steph
